The CAC 40 index experienced a slight uptick of 0.1%, reaching approximately 8,115 in the early session on Wednesday. This modest rise followed a two-day downturn and was primarily fueled by increases in heavyweight luxury stocks amid reduced trading hours leading up to Christmas Eve. LVMH saw an increase of 0.8%, while Hermès rose by 0.7%. Other prominent stocks that advanced included Essilor, TotalEnergies SE, and Air Liquide, each climbing by 0.6%. In contrast, Schneider Electric saw a decline of 0.3%, and Edenred decreased by 0.8%. Additionally, the French parliament passed an emergency budget law to avert a partial government shutdown projected for early 2026. The main index will remain closed until Thursday in observance of the Christmas holiday.
