The FTSE 100 advanced on Friday, snapping a four-day losing streak as financial markets steadied after a turbulent week. Despite the late rebound, the UK blue-chip index still ended the week about 2% lower. In the FTSE 250, JD Wetherspoon shares jumped more than 8% after the pub group’s latest trading update: full-year profit came in below analysts’ expectations, but revenue slightly beat forecasts. By contrast, IG Group was the worst performer in the FTSE 100, slumping more than 20% after cautioning that its annual revenue growth would be limited to the mid-single-digit range.
