On Friday, the Ibovespa index posted a modest gain of 0.2%, closing at 144,201 points. This upward movement was buoyed by favorable corporate developments and robust performance among commodity producers, even as indicators pointed towards a significant decline in private sector activity that bolstered expectations for a more accommodative stance from the Central Bank. Embraer shares rose by 1.9% following the announcement of 62 aircraft deliveries in the third quarter, surpassing last year’s 59 and marking the highest third-quarter performance in commercial aircraft deliveries in eight years. Similarly, WEG climbed 0.9% as the company expedited its expansion into Europe’s electric vehicle (EV) charging sector, with plans to launch local battery charger sales by early next year. Suzano Papel e Celulose, Raia Drogasil, and TOTVS also saw gains, with their stock prices increasing by 1.1%, 3.8%, and 1.9%, respectively. Meanwhile, S&P Global reported that Brazil’s composite PMI dropped to 46.0 in September from 48.8 in August, marking the steepest decline in almost four and a half years. This data highlighted a widespread deceleration in new orders, production, and services, further fueling anticipation of policy easing.
